A canteen space has to warm up quickly, give room to dry wet clothing and have enough seats to let the whole crew take a break at once. That does not work in a space four by two.
At 6 to 9 metres you get a canteen area with a kitchenette and a changing area; from 10 metres a shower fits in as well.
What belongs in it
A kitchenette with hot water, enough sockets, a place to hang and dry clothing, and a washroom. Heating that responds quickly matters more than a high insulation value, although that helps too.
The electric radiators can be set room by room, so the changing area is warm when the crew comes in.
Maintenance
SPC floors and waterproof wall panels make cleaning easy; there are no joints you have to scrub.
Watch the ventilation: wet clothing in a closed space creates moisture. The mechanical ventilation is fitted as standard — leave it running.
